That's Crafty! - Birds of a feather

Hi everyone,

Time for another fortnightly challenge over at That's Crafty! challenge blog and the theme this time is: Birds of a feather.

We'd love to see anything bird or indeed feather related, I know I have loads of birdie stamps so it was quite hard picking just a couple ;)

Join in and you could be in with a chance of winning this:

and I know for a fact there's some exciting stuff coming up in the shop that it could be spent on....just saying.....

I made a card for this featuring a little cutie Lost Coast Designs bird stamp, I think there's about 3 different ones to choose from.

Why this fella wants to be a crow I don't know! Don't get me wrong I'm one of the biggest animal lovers you can find BUT I have a mob of these crows that hang around picking on my garden! They've already killed 3 pots of succulents by pulling them all out and now they've started pulling up the weed surprising membrane under the stones on my patio...I think they're bored with nothing else to do :/

I am entering this into the following challenges:

Take it,Make it, Anything Goes

Countryview Challenges, Have fun with circles

Simon says Weds, Things with wings

Gelatos, That's Crafty! Dinky bubbles stencil, Zig clean colour pens, Stamps are: Lost coast Designs, Katzelkraft and Carabelle.

Fly Free

Hi everyone,

Hope you're all okay out there.

I must just say a big thank you to all the kind people who left such lovely comments on my Paperartsy 3UP  appearance, it really was such great fun taking part ;)

I've made a card today using one of Trish Latimer's absolutely gorgeous new stamps. After seeing these designs in blogland a couple of times I caved in to temptation and bought one....as you do!

Stamps are Trish Latimer and Darkroom Door, coloured with Zig clean colour pens ( oh how I love those things).

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Take it, Make it, Anything Goes

Simon says Weds, Things with wings

Inkspirational, Photo inkspiration (I used the black for the background)

#3UP Paperartsy - Hotpicks and Crayons

Hi everyone,

Exciting news today, I'm over on the Paperartsy blog as one of the very lucky people picked to take part in their fab 3UP challenge! Yes how lucky is that?!

I received 3 sets of pre-loved Hotpicks stamps with which to work with and the brief was to use 'crayons'. This covered Distress crayons, Neocolors II, Gelatos, oil pastels etc.

So for my creation I used Gelatos and my beloved Neocolors II, what we created was entirely up to us as long as we used the stamps and the chosen medium.

It was so much fun and a big thank you to the lovely Paperartsy people for all their generosity and hard work in doing all this.

Here are the stamp sets' received:

Here's the start to the background I made using 3 colours of Gelatos' blended on top of a layer of Gesso (Gelatos always work much better on Gesso).
Next step was to take a stencil and with a moist baby wipe, proceed to remove some of the Gelatos through the stencil (faux bleaching effect). As the Gelatos are water soluble this works really well. Add some random stamping over the background using a black Archival ink.

A couple of gorgeous Paperartsy stencils were then used with modelling paste, which were then coloured using nothing but the Gelatos.....see how versatile they are?

Next stage was to use my fab Neocolors II to colour in the stamped images that I received. I just touched my water brush lightly to the tips of the various Neocolors II to help dilute them before colouring the images in. I then fussy cut them out and adhered to the MDF panel. A few little sequins, beads and a couple of other little touches than were added to complete my creation.

Here's a close up of one of my favourite little 'tricks'. Coat your image with a layer of Glossy Accents and set aside to dry thoroughly. Then pop into the freezer for a few minutes to harden, remove it and then crack the surface! Not only does it give a great cracked glass effect it is also quite satisfying to do too!

Supplies used: That's Crafty! MDF panel, Gelatos, Neocolors II, Paperartsy and a Colour box stencil, Paperartsy Hotpicks stamp sets, stickles, sequins, glossy accents, Tim Holtz hardware and accessories.

If anyone has any questions on anything re how this made just leave me a comment ;)
