Hi everyone,
I'm joining in with Sunday Sketches today with a painting in the style of Mindy Lacefield. Well I say style, it's the closest I could get though it was only my second attempt so please be kind!
I found it such a hard style to attempt as it's completely different to how I normally draw my faces but there's something I'm really drawn to in her artwork.
Bockingford Water colour paper, Neocolors II
I'll be back later as it's the second Sunday in the month it's MMW time ;)
Hope you like it

She is lovely. I love Mindy Lacefields whimsical art.
ReplyDeleteAh, how sweet is this Donna! That sweet bitty bird is trying to cheer her up. It's working on me anyway. I feel very cheery now. I don't know the style, but I think you've got a great sketch here, colored wonderfully.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful whimsical portrait! Love it very much.
ReplyDeleteI see a lovely image of a little, a bit sad girl looking in wonder at the bird who has just landed on her hand. I think you did great!
ReplyDeleteYou've done a great job with your girl portrait, gorgeous shading!

I am not familiar with Mindy's style, but I love how your portrait came out. There is a tender yet fragile look in her expression and the bird gives hope. Beautifully done!

I am also not familiar with Mindy's style but I love your girl and how she looks at the lovely blue bird. Your colors are beautiful as the whole illustration is!

ReplyDeleteI love the colors, and the sweet way the bird and girl are looking at each other.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen any of Mindy Lacefield's works, but yours is so sweet. I love the look on her face and the little bird in her hand. I am interested in the watercolor paper you used. I like the texture of it. I think it adds to your picture. Such a nice piece. genie
