Give your grumpy some wings

Hi everyone,

Well another quick week nearly gone but a Bank holiday for most of us in the UK=more craft time.

Before I show you the card I created.....sadly this took longer then nearly 7 minutes,I have a couple of questions which I would be really grateful if someone could pop a little reply to me on. Firstly, for those of you that use the stuff, whats the best reasonable priced watercolour paper to use for most things? Secondly, can anyone recommend a really good black pen thats good for journalling with? I have heard PITT pens are good, does anyone know?

Right, todays card is featuring the wonderful Grumpy Koala. I have taken the birds off his head this time and given him butterfly wings but he still looks fed up....there's no helping some people is there!

I am entering this in the following challenges:

Fussy and Fancy challenge 121,Pets or Favourite Animals here

Simon stamp Monday,Anything Goes here

I was thinking of doing something fancy with a picture of my cat but then decided that she's had enough exposure lately and she might start getting big headed so went for Grump K instead :)

Distress inks,clarity butterfly stencil,cosmic shimmer spray,stampotique stamp.

Have a great weekend everyone

Hope you like it

  1. Inky & Quirky! I like that! :) I wasn't sure who I was following there for a minute though :)
Brilliant card!! Love te background and the little koala!
The paper I use is Crawford & Black 300gsm at the moment and I'm happy with it. It was well priced too.
My favourite black pens is te set of four by Faber-Castell.. Different sizes and as there is an India ink in them they are also waterproof and permanent once dry. They go over most surfaces. Microns are good too. Big brush pens also have India ink in them so the same quality.
    I hope this helps... ;)

  3. OK, loving Inky and Quirky for your new name, it's a fantastic choice! Sadly, I can't answer your questions, but I can give you lots of praise instead!! This is just incredible! Your background is amazing (as they always are) and your little koala bear is just adorable! Love the way you did the wings, it's so goth yet cutsie at the same time! How do you do that, you clever crafter! Big hugs! :)

  4. What a great card.. what a fab design on this awesome background!

I think Ingrid gave exctly the answers you need .. I can also recommend to do cheap watercoloring on white gessoed book pages..I love this very much and every paper on which you put gesso on is just awesome for watercoloring...
there are also watercolor grounds available..but white gesso achieves the same effect.
For fab writing in black on all surfaces like Acrylic colored backgrouns etc. I can highly recomment Stabilo marks it all black pens... to make them permanent I just give a thin layer of hairspray after I wrote my quote on pages.
And very cheap permanent markers available in the office departments and Euro Shops are also good because you will ruin so many pens you will see-- I at least did ..have bought 3 different sets of blackmarkers (micron, Steadtler, Faber Castell).. in the meantime I like to use a school nib for calligraphy (cheap )and black india ink in a bottle... you have to exercise a bit --but this is so effective!
    Happy weekend!

  5. Uni Pin Pens from ASDA are fantastic and will write very well once they are dry. A good white pen is the Stabilo one. Only use gesso'd backgrounds as watercolour paper is very hard to get right.

Fabulous card, the butterfly wings look amazing on Grumpy Koala, the background is lovely, a great make :-) x

  8. WOW... stepping into your new name .... 100%... LOVE IT ALL... inky and quirky!! WOW Donna... really great my friend...

Pens... I use Micron... sometimes I do have problems with them writing on inks. paints, anything else that I put down... but then I go grab a good old thing called a BALL POINT PEN... works good too... especially over textured paints etc... India ink on a brush is good too... but you do have to practice with this ... use what you have and then as you can move outward... Great FUN with MR... GRUMPY... probably what the bug part of a butterfly looks like... LOL... have a great week-end... and enjoy playing.. .Love, Light and Peace...Bonnie
